George Sidiropoulos, MSc

Chief Executive Officer, co-founder

George is a technical innovator and a co-founder of Think Silicon.
He has an extensive experience in ASIC design, involved in many SoC designs that reached the wireless and VoIP market during his Atmel career and the Graphics market at Think Silicon.
As the Managing Director of Think Silicon he is responsible for business development, financial management, sales, Intellectual Property Rights, financing Programmes; European (FP7) and regional and day-to-day operations. George is a graduate of the Computer Engineering & Informatics Department of the University of Patras, Greece.

Dr. Iakovos Stamoulis

Chief Technology Officer, co-founder

Iakovos has over 20 years of experience in the Computer Graphics and Semiconductor industry. He has a strong technology track record in bringing new technologies from concept to implementation and subsequently to commercial products. He has worked for Advanced Rendering Technology in the UK and USA, where he co-engineered the first Ray Tracing Graphics Engine chip and in Greece where he successfully led teams of engineers in Atmel's Multimedia and Communication Business Unit to the tapeout of numerous devices that reached mass production in the multimedia and wireless markets. He has a D.Phil from the Centre for VLSI and Computer Graphics of the University of Sussex, UK and is a member of IEEE since 1996.

Dr. Georgios Keramidas

Chief Scientific Officer

Georgios currently serves as chief architect of the multi-core and highly multi-threaded eGPU. He has a successful track record in delivering commercial projects as well as national and collaborative programmes. He specifically has worked in three national projects and six European projects (1 IP, 3 FP7 STREP, and 2 FP6 IST). Georgios has published over 50 scientific papers in low power processor and memory design and his work has over 400 citations. His combination of scientific, technical and operations expertise allows the task to be executed to the required timescale, quality and budget. He is member of HiPEAC European Network of Excellence and ACM. Georgios holds three US patents, with another three pending.

Ulli Mueller

Vice President, Business Development & Marketing

Ulli has over 20 years of experience in IT with consumer and semiconductor products. Previously Senior Product Manager of graphics and system memory at AMD Inc., Toronto, Canada. He also played key roles at ATI Technologies Inc. and as a Director in Hauppauge Computer Works Inc., Germany by developing the business for SoC TV decoder ASICs and multiple discrete multimedia consumer products. As the Vice President at TSi, he is responsible for business development, marketing and VC programs in North America. Ulli holds an MSc in computer engineering from the University of Furtwangen, Germany.

Dr. Michael Koziotis

IC Design Group Leader

Michael is a specialist hardware engineer with almost two decades of experience in digital hardware design for ASIC and FPGA technologies, with two ASIC designs in his track record. His expertise includes the entire flow of a SoC design, from algorithm specification, to IP development and SoC integration. He cooperated with several semiconductor companies in the embedded systems field and participated in several European and national research projects. Before joining TSi, he was the CTO and co-founder of another semiconductor company that develops IPs for telecommunications and signal processing. At TSi, he is working in the hardware design of the company's newest 3D GPU engine. Michael holds PhD and MEng degrees on VLSI from the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the University of Patras, Greece.

Panayiotis Apostolou

Software Architect

Panayiotis is the software architect in charge for building the 3D Graphics Software Stack of the company. He has strong background in computer graphics and game development. During his employment in Think Silicon he was responsible for the development of end-to-end software stacks and Linux device drivers for the OpenVG 1.1 and OpenGL|ES 1.1 graphic accelerators of the company. He ported the Mesa OpenGL|ES3.x open-source library to NEMA|S and recently developed a hybrid SW/HW accelerated implementation of the new Vulkan standard, as well as an OpenGL|ES 3.0 to Vulkan middleware. Panayiotis is also a technical contributor to the Vulkan standard. Panayiotis earned a degree in Computer Engineering & Informatics from the University of Patras, Greece and an MSc from the same university.

Yannis Economou, M.Sc

Software Architect

Yannis is the software architect responsible for the Graphics Software Stack targeting MCU-based embedded systems and low-lever Kernel Drivers. He has a long experience in software-hardware co-design and he is collaborating with the IC design group in a daily basis. During his employment in Think Silicon, Yannis developed software and Operating System device drivers for the low-end graphics products of the company. Among others, he is the lead developer of NemaGFX, the proprietary Graphics API of the company. During his M.Sc studies in Hardware and Software Integrated Systems, he worked as a research engineer at the Industrial Systems Institute (Patras, Greece), exploring architectural techniques for reducing cache power consumption and developing scalable cache coherency protocols for CMPs. Yannis earned a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece and an MSc from the same university.

Nick Stavropoulos

Compiler Engineer

Nick specialises in developing LLVM backend compilers, clang front-ends, binutils and code generation tools. During his employment in Think Silicon, he is in charge of building the compiler toolchain for current and next generation company products. Nick has a strong background in generating optimised code for VLIW and SIMD processors and is an avid Linux and vim user. His interests include compilers and simulators for embedded graphics processors. Nick earned a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece.

Chrysa Kokkala

Low-Power Engineer

Chrysa specialises in architectural techniques for reusing calculations and in compression techniques for reducing power consumption and memory bandwidth in GPUs. Chrysa is inventor of one US patent, with two more patents pending. Chrysa earned a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, and an MSc in Hardware and Software Integrated Systems from the same university.

Filipos Pirpilidis

IC Engineer

Filippos Pirpilidis is experienced in IC design and open source software development, while he specialises in FPGA development. Through his employment in Think Silicon he has developed embedded software and for ThinkVG and graphics applications for the Think2D platforms. He has designed embedded software for interconnectivity for prototyping under the Linux operating system and Xilinx Zynq boards. Furthermore, he is interested in computer software and game development. Filippos earned a BSc from the Technological Educational Institute of Messolonghi (Department of Telecommunication Systems and Networks).

Ignacio Aransay

Graphics Software Engineer

Ignacio research background includes computer architecture, embedded systems, and cloud computing, field in which he has an article published in IEEE. Since his employment at Think Silicon, he has contributed to the development of various low-level software modules for embedded graphics. Ignacio earned a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain and is an M.Sc candidate in Hardware and Software Integrated Systems from the University of Patras, Greece.

Dionysis Bakas

Graphics Software Engineer

Dionysis has strong background in computer graphics. Since his employment in Think Silicon, Dionysis implemented image stitching using OpenCV's libraries in x86 and ARM CPUs and "Pyramid Blending" in Nema GPUs. His main research interests include digital system design, image processing and solving engineering challenges. His skills consist of FPGA programming using Verilog HDL, VLSI projects, ranging from different fields including computer science, engineering, graphics and embedded system development. Dionysis earned a degree in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras, Greece.
